The creek
We took Emma to the creek yesterday and she had a ball! She jumped right in and loved it! We are trying to ease her into loving the water so we can take her to the lake & she won't be scared of getting in!!! I can't wait to spend many many summers with this sweet girl on the lake!

4/27/11
A year ago today, I woke up not knowing that my life was about to change. It was just another day. When I went to sleep that night, my life had been altered. A tornado ripped through my city destroying everything in its path. It took over 50 innocent lives including 6 University of Alabama students. It came so close to my apartment that it left me wondering why God spared me & my belongings and not our neighbors down the street. I didnt sleep for days because I stayed up worrying about my students. I had nightmare after nightmare for months after because of the things I saw and heard.
Tuscaloosa will never be the same (as I knew it) and neither will I. My heart sill aches for my town and everyone affected. Several other cities in Alabama were hit that day taking 252 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) lives. It is a day that noone in Alabama will ever forget.
Here is my post from that day BEFORE the tornado - I had no clue what was coming.
Here is my post recalling the events of that horrible day.
Please continue to pray for Tuscaloosa and the whole state of Alabama as we are still taking it day by day trying to recover.
I have never shared pictures from that day on my blog so I thought I'd share a few. Pictures don't do it justice though. Seeing it with your own eyes is very surreal.

Running
So I found 2 pictures online from my last two races. One is of me running & the other is of me crossing the finish line. I always wonder what I look like running. Do I look like a complete fool or do I look like I know what I'm doing? I'd like to think its the second one but I know I probably look ridiculous. I will let you decide...

Nashville
I headed up to Huntsville on Friday (had the day off!!) for my best friend, Lauren's lingerie shower! We went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner & then headed back to her sisters house for the shower! It was so fun just hanging out with the girls! Lauren and I lived together all four years of college and this year is the first year living in different cities after being together for 6 straight years. It has been hard to say the least but I am so thankful for the time we do get to spend together!
Saturday morning we headed up to Nashville for the bachelorette party! We shopped for a few hours, checked into the hotel & got ready for dinner. We ate at Margaritaville & then hit the town! Dinner was so yummy, if you are ever in Nashville, you have to eat there!
Nashville is such a cool city. I love country music so much that I could honestly just sit and listen to music all night long and be content! I just love it!
One of my college friends lives in Nashville and sings so we stopped by to see him play. Being with Lauren and seeing him reminded me so much I college and made me sad!!! He used to sing to us all the time sittin on the front porch at night. Brings back so many memories! Those 4 years went by way too fast...
All in all, We had a great weekend!!! The wedding is June 9th and I can hardly wait!!!

Perfect weekend!
I updated Saturday about my run, which was just the start of my fabulous weekend! I am loving this weather that makes me want to go barefoot all day long. I spent all afternoon Saturday and Sunday outside barefoot. It reminds me of summers as a child, running around my neighborhood with my sisters & friends with no shoes on. I just love it.
I washed my car Saturday afternoon (oh, and yes, it downpoured on me this morning...of course) and we played with Emma outside. I kept spraying her with water and she had no clue where it was coming from. Too cute.
Sunday I slept in and played Hookie from church. I needed sleep. I hadn't slept past 6am in over 2 weeks. I finally got up around 10 & did 5 loads of laundry and changed my sheets. I still had my flannel sheets on my bed along with my electric blanket (yes I'm aware it's April in Alabama)!! I felt oh so accomplished by mid-day!
Ty and Emma came over to play and we introduced her to Granddaddy's dog, Scooter. Emma is slightly annoying to adult dogs right now because she jumps right in their faces and bites them, ha! Scooter wasn't too impressed with her & did not understand why she was at his house, lol!
Christen and the kids came over to play and we spent awhile in the backyard playing with the dogs. Luke wore Emma out playing chase around the yard.
This weather has me longing for long summer days with nothing to do. I cannot wait! Only 26 more school days! I can't believe this school year is almost over, I feel like it just started!!! Crazy!
Happy Monday! We have a short week this week with no school on Friday! Yippee!

Flapjack 5k
I ran the Flapjack 5k this morning for Ty's church and did it in 29:01! I am super pumped about that time! This is my 4th 5k and my second time in under 30 min! I ran in the same race last year and it was the same flat course (yippee!). I had a blast and am so glad I ran it in under 30. The church served flapjacks after the race, which I inhaled in about 2 minutes. It doesn't sound appetizing right after you run but I didn't care, it was carbs to refuel!
I haven't slept in past 6 in 2 weeks so after the race, I took a nice long nap, which was much needed!!!
I think I may have become addicted to running in races. I already found a 10k on May 5th that i want to run in here in town. And I just signed up for the color run (have y'all heard of these? Looks like so much fun), which is a 5k on September 3rd. If I do the one in
May, i might make it a goal to run in one race a month...10k or 5k.
I have thought about training for a half marathon but I think for now I need to run a few more 10Ks first. We will see where that takes me! :)
Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! It's a beautiful day here in Alabama!!
