Honeymoon, Part 1

I am finally getting around to documenting our honeymoon, almost 2 months later! Being a wife is a busy job! :)

We went to Duck Key (right smack in the middle of the Florida Keys) on our honeymoon and stayed 6 nights and 7 days. We stayed at Hawk's Cay Resort and I cannot say enough good things about the resort. It was amazing. They catered to our every need, we got an AMAZING free breakfast every morning, and it was absolutely beautiful. I am already bugging Ty about wanting to go back. If only money grew on trees....

The night of our wedding, we drove to Atlanta (yes, we are crazy), stayed at a hotel for about 3 hours and then hopped on a plane to Ft. Lauderdale. We were running on NO sleep (I actually don't think I slept in several days), but Ty was a trooper and drove us the 2 1/2 hours from the airport to our resort. I slept the entire way and only woke up when we stopped for lunch. We had an amazing first meal and wondered how the rest of the week would follow after such a yummy first meal!

Here was our view at lunch the first day...

After lunch we had some time to kill before we could check in so we went to get some groceries. We had some issues checking in but while we waited, we ate melting ice cream in the rental car - because that's what honeymoons are for, right? If you know Ty, you know he is crazy about eating healthy, so I thoroughly enjoyed the guilty - free trip! :) We also drove around our tiny island and took in the gorgeous views and luxurious houses. A little fun fact - Duck Key has the most expensive houses in the Florida Keys!

We finally got checked in and slept for a good 4 hours. When we woke up, we decided to just eat at one of the restaurants at the resort and it was delicious!

On Monday, we woke up with no plans, but decided to get right to planning our week! My sweet best friend, Melissa had made me a "honeymoon goodie bag" and included several travel books for the Keys. We ate breakfast and then headed to the pool to relax and do some planning!

Our resort had its own dolphin adventure (we ended up going to another place when we swam with dolphins) so we enjoyed watching the dolphins Monday!

Monday night we went to a local restaurant that was very laid back and reminded me of where Jimmy Buffet or Kenny Chesney would be hanging out. :) We came back to this same place on our last day to feed the tarpon (more on that later).

I made Ty chase the sunset pretty much every night, and Monday was the first of many unbelievably gorgeous sunsets. I was in awe of how amazing our Creator is.

On Tuesday, we woke up and ate breakfast - have I mentioned how wonderful this breakfast was each morning? We were skeptical because we got a week of free breakfast but assumed it would be cereal and milk....boy were we wrong! They had waffles, pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, smoothies, cheese, bread, toast, bagels, muffins, a chef making fresh omelets, and more! I absolutely LOVE breakfast food (I think I could eat it for all 3 meals everyday) so I was in heaven!

It was a little overcast Tuesday so we went to a little zoo, where we fed stingrays and saw a few sharks. :)

Feeding the stingrays felt so weird, they would come suck up the food out of your hand!

After the zoo, we went to check out a key that is known for having wild deer roaming around everywhere. Ty was so excited! We didn't see many but it was so neat to see them roaming around free! Here was one that we saw just walking through someone's yard!

After we left the sweet little deer, we went to a Turtle Hospital! Yes, you heard right. I thought it might be boring, but it was quite interesting and the poor hurt sea turtles were so cute! I learned alot about turtles and I want to do a unit with my kids about sea turtles!

These sea turtles have something called "bubble butt" and they stay afloat unless weights are put on their backs!

After we left there, we went to a restaurant down the street that had a pool! If we would have known, we totally would have brought our bathing suits. :) I was introduced to a Key Lime Pie drink, which quickly became my favorite! Most of the restaurants down there had some form of the drink so I ordered it several more times during the week.

After dinner that night, we headed back to the hotel and went to the lagoon and pool! The lagoon was ocean water that was pumped in & a little sand around it with some chairs (the Keys don't have beaches like we are used to, its just the ocean in front of you! So the lagoon felt more like we were at the beach than being at the pool).

We had an amazing sunset!!!!!

That wraps up this post, it only took me 2 days to write - ha! Hopefully I will be back soon with the rest of the trip!

September

September, I am loving you! I love waking up on the weekends to my husband and cooking him breakfast! I love the cooler weather you are bringing us. I love seeing fall decor starting to pop up everywhere. I LOVE spending my Saturdays watching college football. I could go on and on and on, but I'll stop and leave you with some pictures!

My sweet Lauren is having a baby in November and I was able to go up to Huntsville a few weeks ago for her first baby shower. I cannot wait to meet baby Wesley!

My birthday sunset.

This angel is getting so big!!!! Thanking The Lord for this blessing!!!!!! I love being his Aunt!

Rachel and I love going with our husbands when they shoot skeet! We have girl time while they shoot, then they give us the guns for a little bit and we get to practice!!! I smoked all my targets that night!

Just me and my girl last Friday night.

Emma got some dove last weekend! She loves hunting with her daddy!

How gorgeous is this field of sunflowers? I got to pick some for my kitchen!!!

Wednesday night sunset walk with my sweet cousin, Karlie!

Today Christen had to volunteer at a consignment shop so I picked up the girls and we had a girls day! We went on a walk, played at the park, and got milkshakes!!! I loved spending the day with them!

These two are usually petrified of emma, so we conquered a mountain today when this happened.

Milkshake smile! :)

Happy Saturday and Roll Tide!

Hello College Football!

Well, it's the most wonderful time of the year! I am so excited college football is back! All we need now is fall weather, pumpkins, chili, scarves, boots, and big comfy sweaters!

In honor of Alabama playing their season opener today, I thought I'd high-tail it back to my college days. Everytime I look at pictures and reminisce, I want to go back! I cannot believe it's been 9 years since I started at Alabama as a freshman. So crazy how quickly time flies. I really thought my college days would never end. People often ask if my out of state loans were worth it or if I could do it again would I just go somewhere instate? The answer is no. I wouldn't trade those 4 years at Bama for any amount of money!

It was hard to just pick a few pictures from a million memories!

Can we go back now??

Goodbye Summer

Summer is sadly leaving me today and even though I don't feel like I got much of a summer (I was in 2 weddings and had my own to plan!), it was the best.  summer. ever.

I don't think you need to know why, but in case you were wondering why it was so great....

It's because I snagged a husband this summer! :)

And we went on the most amazing honeymoon ever (more on that later)!!

I also saw my baby sister get married, one of my best friends get married, went on a trip with my sister and nieces and nephews, went to the lake with my girls for my bachelorette, and went to the beach with Ty's family! It was a fun-filled super busy summer but I loved every minute of it! The beginning of a new school year is always exciting but I hate letting summer go!

iPhone Getting Ready Pictures

Well, it's 2am and Ty is in the living room playing with his new tv! Today was his birthday and he got himself a new tv & blue ray player! Apparently my little 1980s tv just wasn't doing the trick for him! Ha! Since I'm waiting for him to come to bed I thought I'd share some pictures from my phone from the "getting ready" part of the wedding day.

Our venue had the cutest little house that some of us spent the night in Friday night and then all my beautiful bridesmaids came and got ready in the house Saturday morning. Most of them had hair appointments so they all came one by one when it was their appointment time.

By mid-afternoon, all my favorite people were in one 3-bedroom house in the middle of nowheresville, Alabama. And I loved every second of it. The morning started off slow and sleepy. Us in the house got about 3 hours of sleep & the hair girl showed up about 6:45am to start appointments (that's what happens when you have 14 bridesmaids!) so several pots of coffee were made and we snuggled in bed watching each other get our hair done. Mimosas followed the cups of coffee as more of my best friends started showing up.

We had Chickfila biscuits for breakfast and before I knew it, lunch rolled around and one of my bridesmaids husbands earned mucho brownie points because he showed up with 3 trays of chicken nuggets and strips from Chickfila. Yum yum yum!

In between breakfast and lunch some of us also ventured over to the barn (where the reception was going to be held) and helped everyone finish decorating (we started the night before). It poured down rain the night before and while we were decorating that morning it was still pouring. I was losing hope in my outside wedding dreams but God had another plan. I am still in awe of how beautiful it was that night after it showed no sign of clearing up just hours before the ceremony. Totally a God thing.

Before I knew it, it was time for me to get my hair and makeup done. Here is my before and after of my makeup:

I am so sad I didn't get someone to snap a picture of the back of my hair but it was so perfect! It was exactly what I had envisioned. My hair and makeup girls did amazing and they both helped me feel so beautiful! *** (Hair by Haley Crew and Makeup by Tori Crocker) ***

Next thing I knew my bridesmaids were dressed and ready and it was time for me to get dressed and go see my groom for the first time!!!! When I was about to put my boots on I realized that my sweet Molly and secretly taken them to Ty and he wrote me the sweetest note on the bottom of my boots. Cue the tissues. The note is all rubbed off now but my photographer got some pictures thank goodness! What a sweet surprise.

After our first look and about 9 million pictures by the barn, we headed back to the house to wait for the ceremony to start. Some of my bridesmaids just stayed up at the barn while I went back but some went back with me so we snapped a few pictures during my last moments as a single gal! I love my sweet friends!!!

The "getting ready" part of my wedding day couldn't have been more perfect. I could have been a little more rested (ha!) but it was exactly what I wanted...all my favorite people in one place just enjoying each other!

MARRIED!!!!!

Oh My!!! Where to start? I guess we should start with this....

WE ARE MARRIED!!!!!!

God orchestrated the most beautiful afternoon/evening for our outside barn wedding. It poured down rain at our rehearsal and the morning of the wedding but He cleared the skies and it was such a magical night!

I promise to finish Jeri's wedding updates and full update on our wedding SOON! School starts next week but I am determined to get caught up in my blogging! We got Internet this week when Ty moved in (he has to have it for his job) so it will be way easier for me to update from my computer now!

Thank you to all who came to celebrate with us on our special day. We had the time of our life and it could not have been more perfect! We also had such a blast on our honeymoon to the Keys and I promise to update about that soon as well.

Stick with me! :)

Ok, one more picture, just because I can't help myself. My photographer was AMAZING. Seriously, if you are engaged, GO BOOK HIM NOW. His name is Neal Reeves and he is phenomenal!

OK, another... :)
