warm weather tease/not me monday

This weekend was such a tease. A warm weather tease. I mean how much more beautiful could it have gotten? The sun was out, the air was fresh, it wasn't cold but wasn't hot. It was PERFECT spring weather. I know it will get cold again very soon, so it was a tease. I LOVE summer so when it starts getting warm I get really excited like a kid in a candy store. All I wanted to do on Saturday was go outside. Ty and I went running/walking down by the river here in Tuscaloosa. It was the PERFECT day to get some exercise outside. It was absolutely beautiful!! But, such a tease. :(

So, Friday night Ty, Lauren, and I decided to go to dinner....we went to Hooters (can you tell my boyfriend picked the place??). Ty and I ordered 20 boneless wings. We were so excited because...we go there for their awesome wings right? Well, they brought out our plate and they looked like little pieces of fries....not even full fries or anything remotely looking like wings. It was AWFUL!!!!!!!!! I wanted so badly to send them back and say something to the waitress but Ty forbid me. In conclusion...Hooters has lost our business. Bad for Ty, but I don't know if I'll actually miss it. ;)

I know this post is all over the place but I didn't have ONE thing to write about so ya know...it's just going to be an unload post for my brain.

I found this blog and I am completely obsessed with reading it now. If you go read it (which you should), go get some tissues and make sure you have a couple minutes because it is kind of long...but totally worth reading. This certain post is from January but she updates frequently, so you should become a follower. She has such a great story and is such a strong woman. I won't tell you anymore, I will just let you go read!!!

Okay....time for NOT ME MONDAY!! I only have time for 3 for now :)

1. The only reason I love Mondays these days is NOT because of The Bachelor. I would NEVER surround my happiness of Mondays around a reality tv show. :)

2. I did NOT eat a whole (huge I might add) chocolate heart today after school that one of my babies gave me.

3. I do NOT come home from school EVERY day and change into my pjs!!

**one more thing....today is my sister, Christen's birthday today. She is such an inspiration to me. I don't think she'll ever know how much she means to me and how much I look up to her, still to this day. She was always my 2nd mommy. She did my hair on the school bus when I was in Kindergarten and she was in 5th grade, she always brought me my snack that year too (remember that? i do. :)), she was the one person that I wanted to be like all growing up, she took me places when she started driving, she helped me through all my broken hearts, she came to my cheerleading competitions (even though she probably didn't want to be there), and she is one heck of a sister! She is a Godly woman who has a Godly marriage and raises her children in a Godly home. I look up to her so much and oneday hope to become 1/2 of who she is. I love you Christen and you mean SOOO much to me!!! I hope you are having a GREAT birthday!!!!

This is how wonderful she is...she came to my graduation when it was blazing hot and she was 8 months pregnant with aubrey!! :)

Here she is with her 2 babies....doesn't she look beautiful for just having a baby? :)

I LOVE YOU CHRISTEN!

Tips Tuesdays

Tips Tuesdays is something new started by a college friend of mine (Leslie Lambert). This week it is cooking tips. Now, anyone that knows me...KNOWS I'm not the best cook! However, I am learning! I cook for Ty at least twice a week and he always eats my food so it must be OK! :) I don't have many tips but here they are:

1. It's hard cooking for 2. Most recipes make enough for 4 or more. I ALWAYS refrigerate my leftovers and eat them the next day for lunch. I love not having to make a sandwich in the morning before school and just grabbing the Tupperware that last night's dinner was in. I also sometimes get tired of sandwiches, so eating leftovers is always a good change for me.

2. Always have Cream of Chicken or Cream of Mushroom soup in your pantry! Soooo many recipes call for these soups and it is good to have it, so you don't get caught running to the grocery store before you start to cook-I HATE THAT!!

3. Having a good spice collection is also a must. I love adding new spices into recipes and see how it turns out. :) Also, lots of recipes call for many different spices, so stocking up your spice cabinet is a must.

4. To me, freshly grated cheese is SO much better than the kind you buy in a bag. I do buy both but I love when I actually grate the cheese rather than using the bag kind....it just tastes better to me.

5. Look up recipes online. I LOVE searching for new recipes online. I don't have a printer that works at home, so I just write down the recipes and they are stacked up in a corner on my counter behind my recipe books. I really need to get some kind of recipe organizer. Any ideas? Anyways, Food Network, Campbells, and Cooks.com are my favorite websites to find new recipes. I have also found that if you just google a recipe, thousands will come up. :)

6. Use your resources - get recipes from friends, co-workers, family, in-laws, etc. I have gotten so many recipes from my mom and Ty's mom. I also bought my school's cookbook. I just got it so I havent tried anything yet but I know there are some good stuff in there. Also, if you are somewhere where an experienced person is cooking...go watch them! I always sit in the kitchen and watch my mom and Ty's mom cook. Experience is the only way to get better and I have learned so much just by watching!

Okay, I know that wasn't that many good tips, but its all I got. I'm still learning how to cook. I have loved it so far. I LOVE cooking for Ty....and I love when he enjoys the food! It is also very stress-relieving for me! :)

one amazing weekend

Thursday around 8 started off my amazing weekend when I got the phone call that we didn't have school on Friday. I was kinda sad because we couldn't have our Valentine's Day party but we will just have it tomorrow. The kids won't care! Anyways, Ty and I headed up to Trussville Thursday night to spend the weekend! I really didn't think it would snow....boy was I wrong!!!! I haven't seen that much snow in a LONG time. We had sooo much fun playing in it. I felt like I was a kid again. We had a huge snowball fight, built a pretty good size snowman, and went sledding. When we came inside, after about 2 hours...guess what his mom had waiting for us? Hot, yummy, chili! Chili is a MUST on a snow day! We then sat on the couch under our fuzzy blankets and watchedCriminal Minds for the next 5 hours. :) Ty and I have become addicted to that show!!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the snow on Friday:

My Valentine's Day was really good....we are actually not going to go out to eat until sometime this week...but the morning started off with my Valentine telling me Happy Valentine's Day!! I actually woke up before him so I went in the living room (where he sleeps when we stay at his parent's house) and woke him up and he turned over and it was the first thing he said :). If you are new to my blog - or just want to know....Facebook was doing this all week so I thought I'd just share it on my blog:
Ty and I have been together "officially" for a year and a half. Our parents have been friends since high school and our dads had been trying to set us up for 3 years while we were both in Tuscaloosa. Well, of course we finally "meet" (again) one weekend a couple of months before he was heading to Arizona for baseball spring training...of course we couldn't have met during the 3 years we were in the same town could we? haha well we went on a couple of dates before he left and then just talked while he was in Arizona. He was sooooo sweet to me and very good looking...I was instatntly infatuated with him! Well, poor thing hurt his shoulder and they released him so he had to come back home and go back to school (worked out for me though!!!). He told me he was coming back down to Tuscaloosa to finish school at Alabama and I was so happy!!!!!!! When he got back down to school in the Fall of 08, we started hanging out and we have been together ever since. :) He was VERY slow to open up to me and waited until New Years that year to kiss me (5 months after we started hanging out....(over a year after we went on our first date). It was very hard at times, but he was SOOOOOOOOO worth waiting for!!!!!!! He is so special to me and he is the best thing that has ever come into my life. I thank God every single night for him and I cannot imagine my life without him. He takes such good care of me. :) Anyways, in a short version....thats our story!!! I'm horrible because I don't even have a picture of us from this weekend....ooops!!

I know I'm jumping around but here are some more pictures of paintings I did this week!
Those were for Ty's little cousins - Their birthdays were this week!

This is for my sister's new nephew (being born tomorrow)

I did not paint this one - but this is just a look at what one might look like with sorority letters on it! This is also a little one....remember there are different sizes!

SO- one last thing before this random blog post is over - I have decided to sell Scentsy. If you don't know what that is, click here! It is not official yet but I will be starting to sell products at the beginning of March! I am so excited about this! Every penny I make will go to pay off my student loans. I plan to have a couple of parties to start off so tell me if you would like to be invited! :) They are a GREAT way to make your house/office/classroom (or anywhere) smell SOOO good. I am in love with mine that I have in my classroom and bedroom. Anyways, more details to come in the future!!! Just wanted to give a heads up!

Not Me Monday

Okay, I'm tired....so I've only got a few today.

*Ty and I did NOT watch "She's All That" last night instead of watching the most important game in pro-football (the super bowl of course).

*I did NOT eat strawberry cake tonight when today was supposed to be my first day of "eating healthy and working out".

*I did NOT lay in my bed today after school and watch the food network under my electric blanket instead of going to the gym.

*And I MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT eat half the bag of Sun Chips as I lay in my bed under my electric blanket when I was supposed to be working out.

________________________________________________________________

On the bright side....Ty and I had a wonderful weekend by ourselves. We hadn't stayed in Tuscaloosa on a weekend in a LONG time. I love going to Birmingham to see our families but sometimes, I just like to be with him, and only him. We went on a date Friday and Saturday night!!!! :) I am so unbelievably blessed to have him in my life and I just can't imagine life without him. He is so special to me! (I think he would absolutely kill me if he knew I was writing about him on my blog)

Anyways, Happy Monday!
I cannot wait to see THIS every weekend at the lake again this summer. God's creation is SO beautiful. When you see this, how can you not believe??

"Not Me Monday"

Okay, I'm going to try this....I've seen this on other people's blogs and I think they are hilarious. So, here we go.....I am going to add a few things from the past couple of weeks.... :)

When my kids broke my Scentsy last week, tears did NOT come out of my eyes.

I did NOT wake up last Friday morning at 7:06 when I have to be at school at 7:45. :)

Mollys birthday present is NOT still sitting in my floor waiting to be mailed 3 weeks late. (her bday was NOT on 1/12)

I did NOT cry my eyes out when I had to get an IV last weekend like a 5 year old and the nurse did NOT tell me that having a baby was 20 times worse.

I do NOT get jealous everytime someone new gets engaged or married every time I log onto facebook.

I did NOT beg Ty to let me buy the new "bama national champions" tervis tumbler at Bed Bath and Beyond on Sunday.

I did NOT lose my teacher badge and key to my classroom today when I left school and only went 1 place before I went home. I am most certainly NOT scatterbrained ;)

And last but not least, I most certainly did NOT take a wedding gift (a picture frame) out of the bag today (which was supposed to be given to the bride back in July) and use it for a picture of Ty and I. :) That is NOT tacky, right?
