Little Man's Baby Shower

Back at the end of April, my sweet friends and family threw me the most perfect baby shower. They went above and beyond and made the day so special. They really did such an awesome job with all the little details.

It blew my mind how many diapers were in this diaper cake. I felt so thankful and blessed after I opened all of them. There were tons!

They served the most yummy brunch food ever. I adore brunch food and it was all SO GOOD!

They did a deer theme to match my vision for the nursery and it was all so perfect!

This precious banner landed itself as décor in the nursery, stay tuned!

The sweet little favors. The cookies were so good!

My sweet friend Lauren and her mom (pictured below) came from Huntsville to spend the day celebrating with us. Lauren and I were roomies all four years at Alabama!

My sweet friend Rachel lives down the street from me and was one of the wonderful hostesses. She was 37 weeks pregnant here! Her sweet baby girl was born just 2 weeks later!

Allison lives in GA now and made the over 4 hour drive to come help host the shower. She is so special to me and I miss seeing her sweet face everyday.

Me and mama!!

Wrenn drove from GA to surprise me at my baby shower! She did the same thing at my wedding tea a few years back. When you send invites to friends out of town, you completely understand that it is hard for them to make it, which is why it is so special to me that Wrenn took the time out of her day to drive 2.5 hours to be there with us that day. Wrenn and I have been friends since we were 4, she is so special to me!

Aren't my sissies pretty? I can't wait til they become Aunts to our little guy!

Here is Rachel and I again. :) We have been talking about this bump picture since November when Ty and I found out we were pregnant (Rachel and her husband Chase found out in September). Ty and Chase grew up together and we are so excited to raise our babies together!

My sweet bestie Melissa did all the adorable decorations and I know she spent so much time and effort making everything perfect for the shower. Our little man can't wait to meet his aunite Melissa!

I did a horrible job of getting pictures with everyone and sadly ended the day without a picture with my sweet hostesses!

I gave my sweet hostesses a little bag of relaxation goodies. I included some bath salt, a loofa, a wine glass, and a mini wine bottle. My friend Lauren's sister, Rachel, (who always makes my Christmas cards and makes invites for me when I am hosting showers) made these adorable little tags for the wine bottles. Some of them said "the best cousins get promoted to auntie", some said "the best friends get promoted to auntie", and for Ty's sister, Casey, I had hers say "the best sisters get promoted to auntie". I just love how these turned out and I hope my sweet hostesses enjoyed some relaxation after all the love and time they put into my shower.

Ty and I are so thankful to everyone who came to celebrate this special time in our life!

Weeks 26-29!

Happy Tuesday, friends! I am here today to play catch up!

And, just because we are so close to the end of the school year, I couldn't resist...

Ha! Ok, back to business....

Here is my pregnancy update for weeks 26-29!

How Far Along:
26 weeks: April 19 - 25
27 weeks: April 26 - May 2
28 weeks: May 3 - 9
29 weeks: May 10 - 16

26 weeks - 4.19.16

Size of Baby:
26 Weeks - baby is 14 in, 1.7lb, size of a coconut
27 Weeks - baby is 14.4 in, 1.9 lb; size of an acorn squash
28 Weeks - baby is 14.8 in, 2.2 lbs; size of a large eggplant
29 Weeks - baby is 15.2 in; 2.5lbs; size of a cauliflower

27 weeks, 4 days - 4.30.16

Maternity Clothes:
I finally bought a pair of maternity shorts a few weeks ago. Ty calls them my "mom shorts"! ha! :) I was living in my only 2 pair of nike shorts that fit on the weekend and since school is almost over, I probably won't be wearing my maternity jeans anymore...the Alabama heat is no joke! I still want to get one more pair of shorts - maybe some khakis or something comfy! I have noticed my regular tshirts are getting more snug by the day and I had to dig in Ty's drawers for some sleep shirts. I like my sleep shirts to be really big and mine weren't cutting it anymore!

28 weeks, 2 days - 5.5.16

Gender:
BOY! We have it down to 2 names - I think. :) My husband is having a hard time deciding on one. We are going to call him one name this week and the other name next week and then maybe that will help him decide. :) We have gone back and forth with several names but maybe we have it narrowed down now?!?! We will see. :)

First load of itty bitty baby boy laundry!!!

Movement:
Around week 28-29 we were laying in bed and Ty had his hand on my belly and we felt his hiccups for the first time! I had been dying to feel them because my pregnancy app on my phone said a few weeks ago that I could start feeling them! He gets them a lot in the morning and at night when I am in bed. I've also noticed he will get them when I flip over from side to side at night. It is the sweetest, but definitely keeps me up when he has them. :) He is still rolling all around in there and most active when I am still. He hates to be smushed when I am bent over my teacher table while teaching small group or sitting on the floor. Anything where he feels confined, ha! He is sure to let mama know ;) He must be claustrophobic like me!!

29 weeks, 2 days - 5.12.16

Sleep:
I mentioned this in my last post but I haven't been sleeping great, mainly because I toss and turn all night long. My legs start cramping when I have been on one side too long. I sleep with a pillow between my legs but I wonder if I might need 2 or something? Also, when I toss and turn, it wakes little man up and he think its party time in my belly! ha! I have apparently also started snoring horribly and Ty has resorted to sleeping in the guest bedroom most nights....oops!

What I miss:
Sleeping on my stomach, wine!

Cravings:
Still Pickles & anything sour - sour skittles, sour patch kids, etc!

Symptoms:
I mentioned acne in my last post (ugh), shortness of breath has begun recently as well...cleaning the house, walking fast, picking things up, etc...all causes me to lose my breath easily- ha! It makes me feel so out of shape!

Best Moment of the week (or should I say month? ha!):
Watching my belly move all around, feeling hiccups, getting his nursery ready, my baby shower (post coming soon!)

What I'm looking forward to:
Holding him!!!!

Weeks 24-25

Over a month has passed and I have had every intention of posting pregnancy updates but my oh my, life! Between writing thank you notes, family functions, end of the school year craziness, working on the nursery, my baby shower, working on the yard, I haven't had the energy or time to update! I am now almost 30 weeks (YAYYY!!!!) but need to back up to where I left off!

How far along:
Week 24: April 5-11
Week 25: April 12-18
25 weeks, 1 day (4.13.16)

Size of baby:
24 weeks - 11.8 inches, 1.3 lbs; baby is the size of a large zucchini
25 weeks - 13.6 inches, 1.5 lbs; baby is the size of a large cucumber

Maternity Clothes:
Around this time was when I pretty much stopped wearing my regular shirts because I was afraid they were going to start stretching. I have about 5-6 maternity shirts on rotation for work with my 2 pairs of maternity jeans!

Gender:
Boy! No name :)

Movement:
Around this time I started to notice my belly moving from the outside! I had obviously been feeling him from the inside for weeks but I got him on video around this time making my belly move! It totally freaked ty out at first, HA!

Sleep
I toss and turn pretty much all night. My legs start to hurt when I've been on one side for too long. Flipping to the other side sure is a chore! And usually wakes little man up, making it hard to go back to sleep. ;)

What I miss:
Wine. That is all.

Cravings
pickles, anything sour

Symptoms:
I can't believe I haven't mentioned this before but HELLO ACNE. I have always struggled with acne but it hasn't been this bad in a LONG time. I am so self conscience about it and nothing seems to help!

Best moment of the week:
clearly these weeks were over a month ago so I can't remember specifics of each week but I would say definitely me and Ty seeing him move my belly!

What I'm looking forward to
holding that sweet baby in my arms. I cannot wait!

Spring Break Waco Trip!

Who loves these 2 as much as I do??

My friend, Melissa and I made the trip to Waco last week for a few days of my Spring Break!! She planned the whole trip for us and we had a ball! It was so fun!

Even though we didn't get to see Chip and Jo (bummer), we got to visit the Silos & shop at Magnolia, Clint's shop Harp Design Co, Spice Village, all of Joanna's favorite antique shops around town, and their Bed & Breakfast! I also ate the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life at a cute little sandwich shop in downtown Waco.

We flew into Dallas on Wednesday morning and made the 2 hour drive to Waco. After we checked into the hotel and rested for a little bit, we headed to the Silos! We could see them from our room and were within walking distance but we drove each time we went.

Headed out of the hotel on day 1! So excited!

First glimpse of the Silos

The Store!

Madness everyday in the store. This was actually the least chaotic day!

These food trucks stay on the grounds all the time and are open for lunch everyday! We ate lunch from the grilled cheese food truck and got a yummy juice from the juice food truck on day 2. yummy!

besties on day 1!

Right when you walk in the store this is what you see.

After we walked around the Silos for a little while we grabbed dinner at a local taco place and I got some yummy breakfast tacos! After dinner we were showered and in bed watching tv by about 7pm, which was perfectly fine for this pregnant lady! Love me a good cozy hotel bed!

On Thursday we woke up, ate a yummy breakfast at the hotel and headed out. We were gone ALL day wandering around all of Waco! First, we went back to the Silos for some juice and we both got a watermelon, grape, and mint juice. The weather was BEAUTIFUL this day so we just sat at the picnic tables & chatted.

day 2 hotel mirror selfie :)

Gorgeous Day!

So There's a big grassy area behind the store with lots of games and balls for all the kids to play with. Genius idea to have that for all the dads and kids while the women shop inside. :)

Behind the grassy area is a huge area full of picnic tables and then behind that is where the food trucks are parked!

Day 2 obligatory picture in front of the store!

This cute little building has a garden in front of it and it is going to be a garden shop in the near future!

Love this one. She is a keeper!

Our yummy juice!
We ended up walking in the store around lunchtime but it was JAMMED PACKED so we left and decided to come back later!

We headed to Clint's store first and it was so cute. I found some cute wooden ornaments, and a white washed wooden L for the nursery. Clint's workshop was right behind the shop and his house that they redid on the show was right next door so we got to snap a few pictures of it! So pretty!

Inside Harp Design Co

Clint's House!
After Harp Design Co, we found the original Magnolia Market on Bosque Street. It was too cute!

It was a tiny little shop, they for sure needed to upgrade :)

Dreamy, Gorgeous sliding barn doors inside the shop!

After that stop, we went to Spice Market. It is a huge "mall" where different booths were set up! They had clothes, jewelry, antiques, gifts, etc. Melissa found an adorable long necklace and some postcards!

After Spice Market we headed to McGregor to find Magnolia House (their bed & breakfast). It was about a 30 minute drive but so worth it! It was so gorgeous!!!

Gorgeous right?!?!

The redid this house on the Season Finale last week! Its the carriage house located right behind the bed & breakfast and the people who run the bed & breakfast live here. It was stunning too!

They obviously wouldn't let you go in but we had fun just seeing it from the outside!

On the way back to the hotel, we spotted 2 antique shops and wandered around inside. We got some old antique books (can never have too many of those, can you??) and some cute little old ducks for the nursery (Ty is a big duck hunter so I thought they'd be perfect!).

We stopped back by Magnolia and got a few more things before going to dinner at a yummy place that had lots of good comfort food! We crashed at the hotel after dinner and I enjoyed another lovely night in the comfy hotel bed...could they be any more comfortable? #ilovehotelbeds

On Friday, we woke up and had breakfast the hotel, packed up, and headed back out to the Silos one last time! It was rainy that day so we thought the store wouldn't be too hectic but it was! The rain doesn't stop some fixer upper lovers!!!

I ended up getting a Waco shirt, a coffee creamer jar, a little flower vase, and a Magnolia tea towel for my kitchen. Of course we wanted ALL THE THINGS but since we flew (and I carried my bag on), we had to be particular about what we bought! Melissa checked her bag and it was 52 pounds on the way back. #oops

Saying goodbye to the Silos

We had been talking the whole trip about finding the little green shotgun house that they recently redid. When we were literally about to get back on the interstate to head back to Dallas I spotted it from several streets over. Melissa immediately turned around and we found it! How cute!!!

The 4 fixer uppers we saw on our trip!
We headed back to Dallas on Friday afternoon, returned the rental car, and checked into a super fancy hotel...like I'm talking the shades automatically went up when we walked in the door, the tv turned on and said "Welcome Melissa" and there were controls on the bedside table for lights, the temperature, and the shades. Oh my! We ate dinner at the hotel, and were in bed by about 8, but we both had trouble sleeping because we knew we had to get up at 4!

After an eventful security check in the Dallas airport, almost missing the boarding process, and a quick flight back to ATL, I was back on the road to Bham around 8:30am and home by 10:30am! Nothing like being in 3 states before 11am :)

I cannot thank my sweet best friend Melissa for planning this trip for us. I love going on adventures with her!

If you love the show as much as we do, we highly recommend putting this trip on your bucket list. It is so worth the trip!!!
